Devourer
Mixed Media - Graphite, Ink, Collage, Acrylic,
12in x 16in
After working as a more traditional designer and illustrator for 20 years, I spent the last year exploring how to integrate hand-drawn typography and collage into my imagery. I've always been an impatient image-maker and never enjoyed the rendering process. My strengths show up in the mess and in the solutions that emerge when I try to fix images I've intentionally ruined. Collage forces me to think in larger, simplified shapes, and the typography adds detail that creates interest, whether it's legible or abstracted. This exploration has been a meaningful development for me as an artist, and it began with the three mixed media devils I'm sharing today.
